Coworker Got Back From Cancun, Mexico This Week; Can She Transmit Swine Flu?

A co-worker of mine just got back from a family trip at Cancun, Mexico. She was gone for about a week. Mexico is the core of the Swine Flu outbreak, so could she transmit the disease to me and the other employees and not know about it, that is, without symptoms and virus still being in its incubation period and then we all get sick like a few days later. I would hate for her and our entire staff to get sick–how likely is that to happen? Is the outbreak pretty much under control or are there still more cases emerging in Mexico?

the whole swine flu scare was nonsense, (like with SARS with it’s 98% survival rate) it’s nothing to be afraid of. if she was exposed to it, she could have caught it and she could transmit it to other people. but if she did, it’s not major. just go to the doctor and get your antibiotics and you WILL be fine.
Also, people haven’t forgot about that yet?

Unlikely, and anyway the swine flu is not a death sentence. Most people who get it do not die. It is less deadly than the regular flu.
    Don’t worry.

If she got infected, then yes she can. Best thing to do is for her to go to her doc and get tested. If she does have the virus then the rest of you are now infected. So you will all need to impose a self quarantine for about 5 days so that you don’t pass it on to others.
